He’s not from here but he makes valid points.
During a recent comedy set at Netflix’s comedy festival in Los Angeles, “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart launched into a scathing critique of President Biden, questioning his suitability for the White House, particularly in light of his age.
“Why are we allowing this?” Stewart queried the crowd, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. “And now we’re going to have a president that’s [one of] the two oldest people that have ever run for the office of the presidency.”
Despite reservations from some liberals, Stewart boldly addressed Biden’s age, urging honesty about the visible reality. “I know liberals say, ‘Don’t say Joe Biden is old’ — don’t say what people see with their own eyes! You can say it, he can’t hear us,” Stewart quipped, acknowledging the discomfort around the topic. “I know you know how f—ing old he is, and I know you don’t want to say it because Trump is so scary, but he’s so f—ing old. When you watch him on television, you’re nervous, aren’t ya?”
Stewart emphasized that he wasn’t discrediting Biden’s potential contributions to society but expressed doubt about his suitability for the presidency. He juxtaposed Biden with Trump, highlighting Trump’s ability to evade consequences and the disconnection of his supporters from reality, despite being similarly advanced in age.
This isn’t the first time Stewart has expressed concerns about Biden’s age. In February, during his return to “The Daily Show” desk, Stewart mocked Biden’s defenders for asserting his sharpness and focus behind closed doors, suggesting that if true, such moments should be recorded for transparency.
Joining Stewart in expressing reservations about Biden’s age is fellow comedian Bill Maher, who has humorously likened Biden to the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, suggesting Biden might be making a similar mistake by not stepping down. Maher cautioned Biden against risking the country’s future by potentially running for re-election at an advanced age.
Biden, who will turn 82 in November, has faced scrutiny due to his various gaffes, falls, and missteps throughout his presidency, renewing concerns about his age. These concerns were accentuated in February by a report from Special Counsel Robert Hur, citing Biden’s poor memory and suggesting jurors might view him sympathetically if pressed with charges due to his age.
