The House Oversight Committee are investigating him.
The House Oversight Committee is examining Minnesota Governor Tim Walz over his alleged longstanding ties with China and entities connected to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). This investigation, revealed by Fox News Digital, was prompted by concerns that Walz’s connections could influence his potential role as Vice President alongside Kamala Harris.
According to a letter from House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer to FBI Director Christopher Wray, the committee is probing Walz’s interactions with Chinese officials and entities. The committee had previously received briefings from the FBI about similar issues before Walz was announced as Harris’s running mate. Comer has requested information on Walz’s engagements with Chinese figures and any advice the FBI might have provided regarding CCP influence.
The investigation has highlighted Walz’s history of involvement with China, including organizing student trips funded by the Chinese government in the 1990s and running a travel company focused on educational trips to China until 2003. Comer also pointed out that Walz has made numerous visits to China and had financial issues during his time as a fellow at Macau Polytechnic University—a Chinese institution with ties to the CCP.
Comer expressed concerns that Walz’s activities could indicate susceptibility to CCP influence, especially in his capacity as a governor and potentially as a vice president. He cited instances such as Walz’s participation in events with CCP-affiliated organizations and his favorable statements about China despite human rights concerns.
The committee is now seeking the FBI’s assistance in providing records related to Walz’s interactions with Chinese entities and any guidance given to him regarding such engagements. Comer emphasized the importance of scrutinizing these connections to understand their impact on U.S. national security and political integrity.
