Vance Calls Out Media Silence About Harris

They scrutinize Trump, but leave Harris alone.

Senator J.D. Vance, the Republican vice presidential candidate, expressed skepticism regarding the mainstream media’s lack of investigation into Vice President Kamala Harris’s claims about her employment at McDonald’s. During a segment on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” with Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino, Vance mentioned that both he and former President Donald Trump have discussed Harris’s assertion that she worked at the fast-food chain during her college years.

Vance pointed out the absence of evidence supporting Harris’s claim, noting that she only brought it up in 2019 during her initial Senate campaign. “It’s strange that Kamala Harris hasn’t been able to provide proof of her time at McDonald’s,” he remarked. He contrasted the media’s scrutiny of Republican figures, including himself and Trump, with its acceptance of Harris’s narrative, suggesting that they simply accepted her story without further inquiry. “Why not engage in some journalism?” Vance questioned, expressing distrust in the media’s apparent indifference to this issue.

In a recent event, Trump donned a McDonald’s apron and participated in cooking fries and serving customers at a franchise in Pennsylvania. He humorously stated that he had worked at McDonald’s for 15 minutes longer than Harris claimed to have. The New York Times reported that Harris’s campaign stated she worked at the Central Avenue McDonald’s in Alameda, California, during her freshman summer at Howard University. However, both Harris’s campaign and McDonald’s Corporation did not respond to requests for comment from The Christian Post.

Additionally, the Times spoke with Wanda Kagan, a high school friend of Harris, who recalled that the former senator worked at a McDonald’s during her college years. In response to Trump’s comments about Harris’s employment, her campaign spokesperson Ian Sams dismissed Trump’s claims, stating, “When Trump feels desperate, he resorts to lies.” Sams further remarked that Trump lacks the understanding of what it means to hold a summer job, given his privileged background.

On “America’s Newsroom,” Vance defended Trump’s visit to McDonald’s, dismissing claims that it was a staged event. He acknowledged that security measures were necessary due to Trump’s past assassination attempts, explaining that it would not be feasible for Trump to casually enter a McDonald’s and go through the hiring process. Vance highlighted that Trump was genuinely engaging with the employees and expressed interest in their lives, emphasizing that such interactions cannot be fabricated. He described Trump as “genuine,” suggesting that this authenticity is why many working-class individuals feel a connection to him, despite his wealth as a real estate mogul.
