Ashley Etienne, former communications director for Vice President Harris, recently identified Ohio Senator JD Vance as potentially the “greatest threat” to Harris if chosen as former President Trump’s running mate in 2024.
Speaking to CNN, Etienne praised Vance as an “incredible debater” who possesses qualities that could resonate with undecided voters and those who closely follow debates. She described Vance as “super smart,” “quick-witted,” and highlighted his potential to challenge Harris effectively on the debate stage.
Etienne, who also served as deputy assistant to President Biden, expressed her belief that Vance’s debating skills and sharp intellect could present a formidable challenge to Harris in a hypothetical matchup.
The observation comes amid ongoing challenges for Vice President Harris, whose disapproval rating stands at 55% among registered voters, according to a recent Fox News survey.
Vance has emerged as a contender for Trump’s vice presidential pick, alongside other prominent Republicans. He recently garnered attention when it was revealed that he was among the few candidates being vetted by Trump’s campaign team.
