They’re not letting her get away with it.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently criticized former President Donald Trump’s mental fitness, suggesting that his cognitive abilities are deteriorating and that he would be incapable of completing a full four-year presidential term. In an MSNBC interview, Pelosi argued that voters considering supporting Trump should be aware that his mental decline could prevent him from serving as president for the entire term, implying that his potential successor could be his vice president, Mike Vance, which she argued would be detrimental to the country.
Pelosi’s remarks came after Trump made a joke at a rally in Pennsylvania, referencing an earlier incident in which he was shot in the ear during a speech. In his comments, Trump suggested that anyone wanting to harm him would have to shoot through the “fake news.” Pelosi responded by labeling these remarks as further evidence of Trump’s cognitive decline.
She also recalled an odd remark Trump had made about a hypothetical situation where he had to choose between electrocution or being eaten by sharks, with Trump stating he would opt for electrocution. Pelosi called this comment “something’s very wrong” with Trump’s mental state, suggesting it highlighted a troubling aspect of his health.
In response, Trump’s campaign press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, issued a statement attacking Pelosi, calling her a “decrepit washed-up corrupt politician” who has outlived her political usefulness. Leavitt also criticized Pelosi’s tenure in Congress, suggesting that she had done harm to San Francisco and should retire permanently. Pelosi has represented California in Congress since 1987.
