They are making fun of her.
The Trump campaign team recently unveiled a new moniker for fellow Republican presidential contender Nikki Haley, dubbing her “Nikki New Taxes.” In a communication titled “KISS OF DEATH: Nikki New Taxes,” spokesperson Steven Cheung criticized Haley’s alleged problematic track record.
The message accused the former South Carolina governor of showing disregard for the working class and aligning with lobbyists. It highlighted her support for a significant 60% hike in the state gas tax, contradicting promises made to voters. Additionally, Cheung condemned her backing of a substantial 20% surge in the state sales tax, painting her as an adversary of the working class and an advocate for lobbyist interests influencing impressionable politicians.
Despite Haley’s past role as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under Trump’s administration, tensions between them persist on the campaign trail. In a December interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Haley criticized the media’s fixation on Trump, asserting that regular people were more concerned about affordability, diminishing freedoms, and governmental size. While acknowledging differences with the former president, she mentioned maintaining a constructive working relationship.
Haley expressed her position as not conforming to either the anti-Trump or pro-Trump camps entirely. She acknowledged areas of agreement with Trump, particularly acknowledging the strong economy during his tenure but criticized the substantial increase in national debt incurred. Additionally, she faulted Trump’s approach to national security, citing inadequacies in addressing issues like the fentanyl crisis despite focusing on trade relations with China.
