Is Biden even thinking?
The Trump campaign has voiced its demand for an apology from President Joe Biden, contesting his declaration of March 31 as “Transgender Day of Visibility,” which coincided with Easter Sunday, a significant event in Christianity.
In his proclamation on Friday, President Biden emphasized honoring the courage and contributions of transgender Americans and reiterated the nation’s commitment to equality for all individuals throughout their lives. However, this move drew criticism from the Trump campaign, represented by spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, who deemed the decision “appalling and insulting.”
Leavitt called for an apology from the Biden administration to the millions of Catholics and Christians in the country who consider Easter Sunday as dedicated solely to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. She also criticized the administration for prohibiting children from submitting religious-themed designs for the White House’s Easter Art Event, portraying it as part of a broader pattern of disrespect toward the Christian faith.
House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed disappointment, accusing the Biden White House of betraying the central significance of Easter by banning religious symbols from the art contest and scheduling the “Transgender Day” on the same day.
Southern Baptist Theological Seminary professor Andrew T. Walker characterized the administration’s actions as tone-deaf, highlighting the clash between the celebration of Easter and the recognition of “Transgender Day of Visibility.” He criticized what he perceived as misplaced priorities, suggesting a disregard for the sanctity of Easter Sunday.
Donald Trump Jr. echoed similar sentiments, condemning what he saw as the left’s promotion of transgender ideology over religious observance, labeling it as the “left’s new religion.”
Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy questioned the rationale behind selecting March 31 for Transgender Visibility Day, interpreting it as a deliberate affront to Christianity.
Rep. Alex Mooney joined the chorus of criticism, denouncing the administration’s decision as a direct attack on Christianity and traditional values.
The Daily Wire reported on Biden’s consistent issuance of pro-transgender proclamations on March 31, noting the absence of statements from Biden regarding the anniversary of a tragic shooting incident. This observation further fueled sentiments of dissatisfaction among critics.
A Trump supporter emphasized the stark contrast between Biden’s actions and former President Trump’s Easter messages, asserting that Biden’s affiliation with Catholicism did not align with his actions.
