He cannot see Trump winning.
Senator Lindsey Graham appeared on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday, expressing concerns about former President Donald Trump’s potential to win the upcoming election. Graham remarked that while Trump’s policies are beneficial for America, his persona as a provocateur and showman might not be effective in securing victory.
Graham advised Trump to focus on concrete policy issues in the remaining days of the campaign, emphasizing the need to address key issues such as border control and inflation. He stressed the importance of Trump showcasing his plans for the country rather than relying solely on his provocative style.
In discussing campaign strategy, Graham suggested that he and other Republicans, including former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, should actively support Trump on the campaign trail. He highlighted the need for practical campaigning efforts rather than just offering advice from a distance.
Earlier in the week, Haley had criticized Trump’s personal attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris, arguing that focusing on such attacks was unproductive and would not lead to electoral success. She emphasized the need for Trump to concentrate on key issues to win the election.
Despite this, Trump defended his approach, asserting that personal attacks were justified and expressing his low regard for Harris’ intelligence and potential presidency. Graham, however, believes that Harris’ policy positions are problematic for her and should be the focus of the opposition’s critique, rather than personal attacks.
