Podcaster Joe Rogan made a provocative comment this week, suggesting that President Joe Biden secretly wanted President-elect Donald Trump to win the election after his party encouraged him to drop out in July. Rogan pointed to the president’s demeanor during his meeting with Trump at the White House on Wednesday, claiming that Biden seemed unusually pleased to see Trump, implying that he was happy to pass the baton to him rather than to Vice President Kamala Harris.
Rogan shared his thoughts on his podcast, saying, “One of my favorite things this whole election cycle has been when Biden and Trump sat down in the White House. I guarantee you, Biden voted for Trump. He was so happy. He lost, and his party lost, and he was still happy.” Rogan contrasted this moment with Obama’s reaction to Trump in 2016, suggesting that Obama appeared frustrated when Trump won the presidency.
During the podcast, Rogan commented on a photo of Biden smiling next to Trump, exclaiming, “Look at Biden! Look at his smile! It’s like when your kid gets married.” He jokingly speculated that Biden was glad to see Harris, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, lose. Rogan also recalled a moment when Biden had been seen wearing a Trump hat while campaigning, adding, “I guarantee you, he was happy. He had a giant smile and said ‘Welcome back’ to Trump.”
Rogan went on to reflect on how Biden had previously described Trump as a threat to democracy, but now seemed much more cordial. “I thought he was ‘dangerous,'” Rogan remarked, recalling Biden’s strong rhetoric against Trump during the campaign. “It’s so nuts, man. Everything that happened in this election is wilder than anything you’ve ever seen in a movie,” he concluded, pointing out the contrast between Biden’s earlier campaign warnings and his more conciliatory tone after the election.
