Pelosi Slams Trump As A ‘Coward’

She was proven wrong.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently suggested that former President Donald Trump might avoid the upcoming presidential debate out of “cowardice.” Her remarks came during an appearance at the Texas Tribune Festival, where she discussed various topics with journalist Kara Swisher and signed copies of her latest book.

Pelosi’s comments came in response to Swisher’s question about Trump’s participation in the debate with Vice President Kamala Harris. Pelosi, 84, joked about Trump’s potential absence, implying that his avoidance would be due to a lack of courage. The audience responded with laughter and applause, and Pelosi smiled slightly at the reaction.

Swisher then asked if Pelosi agreed with former Congresswoman Liz Cheney’s previous criticisms of Trump, which included calling him a “misogynist pig.” Pelosi praised Cheney’s remarks, indicating her support for Cheney’s stance.

The Trump campaign quickly dismissed Pelosi’s comments, labeling them as “fake news.” Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung criticized Pelosi, accusing her of spreading falsehoods and of being out of touch with reality. Cheung also pointed out that Pelosi’s history of animosity with Trump includes memorable moments like tearing up Trump’s State of the Union address in 2020.
