Pelosi Confesses No Contact With Biden

Her comments show that she’s in control of the Democratic Party.

A recent CNN panel discussed former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s comments about her relationship with President Biden following his withdrawal from the race. CNN host Kasie Hunt reacted strongly to Pelosi’s statement, made during an interview with Dana Bash, that she had not spoken to Biden since his decision to exit the campaign.

Top Democrats, including Pelosi, were reportedly involved in discussions about encouraging Biden to drop out after a poor debate performance in June. Pelosi has denied any role in pressuring Biden to leave the race. Meghan Hays, a former White House communications aide and DNC convention consultant, suggested that Pelosi’s remarks and her book promotion are intended to assert her influence within the Democratic Party. Hays noted that Pelosi’s comments imply she remains a significant power player.

During the interview, when asked by Bash if she had spoken with Biden since his withdrawal, Pelosi responded no. When further asked if she hoped to speak with him and if their relationship was okay, Pelosi indicated that it would be best to ask Biden directly. CNN’s Elliot Williams interpreted Pelosi’s responses as strategic, suggesting that her deliberate choice of words might be a way to subtly communicate the strained nature of their relationship.

Bryan Lanza, a former director of Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, remarked on the impact of Pelosi’s actions. He pointed out that Biden’s exit from the race and Kamala Harris’s subsequent nomination reflect the effectiveness of the efforts that led to these outcomes.
