Obama Praises Biden But Snubs Kamala Harris

He has yet to endorse her.

On Sunday, former President Barack Obama chose not to explicitly endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee following President Joe Biden’s announcement that he would not seek reelection. Obama praised Biden for his long and distinguished political career and his character, highlighting his empathy, resilience, and commitment to public service.

In his statement, published on Medium, Obama expressed confidence that the Democratic Party would select an exceptional nominee through a fair process. He reiterated his admiration for Biden’s vision of a united and equitable America, which he believes will be evident at the Democratic National Convention scheduled for August. Obama also conveyed his personal gratitude to Biden and his wife, Jill, for their leadership and dedication during challenging times.

Vice President Kamala Harris responded to Biden’s endorsement by affirming her commitment to uniting the Democratic Party and defeating former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election. She expressed her determination to work towards this goal and thanked Biden for his leadership and service.

In the meantime, Trump and his running mate, Senator J.D. Vance, have distanced themselves from The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, a conservative policy guide. Vance acknowledged the foundation’s work but stated that Trump would set the agenda for any future administration.

Several prominent Democratic leaders, including former Presidents Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, as well as Senators Elizabeth Warren, Patty Murray, and others, have quickly supported Harris for the presidential nomination. However, notable figures like former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer have yet to make endorsements.
