Hunter Controversy Puts Biden’s Political Future At Stake

Biden could face major political turmoil.

Juror No. 10, speaking to Fox News on Tuesday, addressed the aftermath of Hunter Biden’s conviction on three federal gun-related counts. Legal and political analysts caution that President Biden could face significant “political blowback” if he chooses to pardon his son, despite his earlier pledge to accept the verdict and refrain from pardoning.

While some argue that the public may not be overly concerned about the gun charges, Republican strategist Tricia McLaughlin suggests that the potential pardon could amplify concerns about influence peddling and covert business dealings within the Biden family. McLaughlin emphasizes that such a move could lead to substantial political backlash, especially considering the ongoing scrutiny surrounding Hunter’s controversial laptop, which was recently introduced as evidence in the trial.

Echoing these sentiments, Republican strategist Erin Perrine highlights the broader challenges faced by President Biden within his own party, suggesting that a pardon could exacerbate accusations of favoritism and a double standard in the justice system.

However, political commentator Kristin Tate offers a different perspective, suggesting that a potential pardon flip-flop might not significantly impact Biden politically, particularly among his supporters. Tate argues that Biden apologists could frame the trial as politically motivated, potentially providing cover for the president if he decides to pardon his son. Moreover, Tate expresses skepticism about the likelihood of Hunter serving jail time, citing concerns about a perceived two-tiered justice system in the United States.

Hunter Biden was found guilty on all charges related to the gun case, including making false statements during the gun purchase and unlawful possession of a firearm. The jury deliberated for a total of three hours before reaching a verdict.
