Harris Hits Trump In Multimillion-Dollar Ad Attack

She dropped big bucks.

Kamala Harris is set to launch an extensive advertising campaign focused on health care, directly addressing Donald Trump’s vague proposals to replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The initiative, reported by NBC News, aims to highlight the issue of health care, which polls indicate is a significant vulnerability for Trump. The first 60-second ad features a clip of Trump during a debate with Harris, where he mentions having “concepts of a plan” for the U.S. health care system. In response, Harris emphasizes her commitment to protecting the ACA and advancing Biden-Harris policies that lower insulin costs for seniors and expand coverage subsidies.

The ad, titled “Concepts of a Plan,” will be broadcasted in key battleground states, targeting diverse audiences through popular shows and networks, including “9-1-1,” “Chicago Fire,” and the Hallmark Channel. It will also air on “NBC Nightly News” ahead of the upcoming vice presidential debate. The Harris campaign plans to follow up this ad with more focused content on health care in the future. A recent Gallup poll reveals that health care is a top concern for voters, with a significant majority believing it hasn’t received adequate attention in the current presidential race.

Harris’s campaign highlights the threat posed by Trump’s potential repeal of the ACA, which provides coverage to approximately 50 million individuals. They argue that eliminating the ACA would mean removing vital subsidies and dismantling protections that prevent insurers from charging higher rates to those with pre-existing conditions. Campaign communications director Michael Tyler stressed that Harris would prioritize lowering health care costs and ensuring access for all Americans.

While Trump has criticized the ACA, he has softened his approach, claiming he would only repeal it if he could propose a better and cheaper alternative. However, his campaign has not detailed when such a plan might be unveiled. Trump’s campaign asserts that he would focus on eliminating inefficiencies within the health care system and prioritizing patient care.

The health care debate has intensified as Trump navigates the challenge of appealing to working-class and low-income voters, many of whom rely on health care safety nets. While Trump has struggled with the health care issue since promising to repeal the ACA in 2016, polling indicates that voters currently favor Harris over Trump in handling health care, further complicating Trump’s efforts to win over these critical demographics.
