Disturbing Imagery Targets Harris’ Border Policies

It’s going to get worse if she is president.

A new advertisement from the Catholic advocacy group CatholicVote targets Vice President Kamala Harris’ immigration policies, urging voters to reconsider supporting her in the 2024 presidential election. The ad campaign, worth six figures, is running in Arizona—a crucial swing state—highlighting perceived failures in the Biden-Harris administration’s border policies. This ad follows President Joe Biden’s recent withdrawal from the presidential race and Harris’s subsequent appointment as the Democratic nominee.

The 30-second ad, titled “Kamala’s Border Crisis,” features a stark image of a young girl with labels of “raped” and “strangled to death,” attributing her death to an illegal immigrant released under the Biden-Harris administration’s policies. The video juxtaposes images of Biden and Harris with scenes of the influx of illegal immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, blaming Harris’s tenure as the “border czar” for the current crisis.

CatholicVote President Brian Burch criticized Harris for what he described as ineffective border management that has jeopardized American lives and left migrants vulnerable to exploitation. He condemned the Biden administration’s policies, which included reversing Trump-era measures and halting border wall construction, as contributing factors to the surge in illegal immigration.

Since Biden’s administration began, border encounters have consistently exceeded 100,000 monthly, with a peak of 301,982 apprehensions in December 2023. From February 2021 to June 2024, there were over 8 million encounters at the southwest border. This increase in migration and associated crimes has significantly impacted Biden’s approval ratings on immigration, which, according to recent polls, stand at just 33.2% approval and a 29.6 percentage point net disapproval.

Overall, Biden’s approval rating on immigration is notably lower than his general approval rating of 40.8%. His handling of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has also received lower approval, with only 29.4% of Americans supporting his approach and a net disapproval rating of 33.6 percentage points.
