Biden’s Leadership In Crisis

He is being called a ‘president in name only.’

On Monday, Nicole Shanahan, the running mate of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., criticized President Biden, claiming he is “basically president in name only.” In a video posted on X, Shanahan expressed concern over Biden’s effectiveness, noting that despite the Democratic Party’s pressure campaign to push him out of office after he secured the nomination, he now seems willing to serve out the remaining months of his term despite pressing issues like inflation and national debt.

During the Democratic National Convention, President Biden addressed his remaining time in office, emphasizing that he has significant tasks left to complete. He made a somewhat humorous comparison between himself and Vice President Kamala Harris, referencing his own experience as former President Obama’s vice president. Biden expressed confidence that Harris will be a respected and impactful president if elected.

Public reactions to Biden’s leadership have been mixed. Some users on X questioned whether Biden is truly in charge, highlighting concerns about his age and mental fitness. Following a poor debate performance and mounting pressure from Democratic lawmakers and donors, Biden decided to step aside from the race, endorsing Harris as his successor. Despite this, Biden insists his departure was made for the benefit of the country and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Democratic agenda in the upcoming elections.

Biden’s speech at the DNC was framed as a farewell address, with him expressing his dedication to his country and urging support for the Democratic cause in the 2024 elections. After his address, Biden and First Lady Jill Biden traveled to California. Harris is expected to formally accept the Democratic presidential nomination later this week.
