She’s sticking by him even after the debate.
Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez delivered a clear endorsement of President Biden on Monday, addressing concerns about his age and recent debate performance. Speaking outside the Capitol, Ocasio-Cortez stated that she had extensive conversations with the president over the weekend, during which he reaffirmed his commitment to remaining in the race.
“He made it unequivocally clear both in our discussions and publicly that he is continuing in this race,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporters. “Joe Biden is our nominee, and I fully support him.”
Following Biden’s debated performance, which raised doubts among some Democrats about his ability to compete effectively against former President Trump, several Democratic representatives, including Mike Quigley, Seth Moulton, Lloyd Doggett, Angie Craig, and Raul Grijalva, publicly suggested Biden should step aside.
In response, Ocasio-Cortez emphasized the urgency of focusing on defeating Trump in the upcoming election, highlighting Trump’s legal challenges and emphasizing that no Republicans have questioned his nomination despite his criminal convictions.
When asked about fellow lawmakers’ demands for more assurances from Biden, Ocasio-Cortez acknowledged their concerns but reiterated her primary goal of securing a victory in November. She concluded her remarks to the press by reaffirming her commitment to supporting Biden in the presidential race.
