Trump Has Shocking Reversal For Former Rival

She’s already helping his campaign.

In a recent interview on “Fox and Friends,” former President Donald Trump emphasized his significant victory over Nikki Haley, his 2024 Republican presidential primary competitor. Trump noted that Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and U.N. ambassador during his administration, is currently “helping” him on the campaign trail. When asked by co-host Brian Kilmeade if he had requested Haley’s assistance in appealing to Republicans who may be hesitant to support him, Trump replied, “I’ll do what I have to do.”

Trump asserted that he defeated Haley “badly” in the Republican primaries, claiming margins of victory of 50, 60, and even 90 points, including a notable win in her home state. Haley was the first major candidate to challenge Trump when she launched her presidential campaign in February of last year, following his announcement three months earlier. She became his final rival, facing off against him in a tense showdown from the New Hampshire primary through Super Tuesday, before suspending her campaign on March 6 after Trump’s strong performance in the nominating contests.

Despite her departure from the race, Haley continued to capture around 20% of the vote in subsequent primaries and indicated her intention to remain vocal about her political views. In her first comments after exiting the race, she expressed her support for Trump and encouraged her supporters to back him. Over the course of the primaries, Haley secured a total of 97 delegates and subsequently released them in support of Trump.

In August, Haley publicly backed Trump at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. However, Trump expressed some frustration regarding ongoing discussions about Haley’s role in his campaign, noting that people often focus on her while he believes he has outperformed all competitors. He remarked, “Nikki is in. Nikki is helping us already….Nikki is already in, you know, she’s out campaigning.”

Sources indicate that Haley is currently in talks to join Trump on the campaign trail. Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller hinted at future appearances, telling Fox News to “stay tuned” regarding Haley’s involvement. Until now, Haley’s efforts to support Trump in attracting reluctant Republicans have primarily included fundraising emails.
