He was being interviewed by Elon Musk.
Elon Musk’s recent interview with former President Donald Trump on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, achieved significant viewership, totaling around 1 billion views, as reported by Musk. This count includes both the live interview and subsequent discussions about it on the platform. In light of this success, Musk has extended an offer to Vice President Kamala Harris to participate in a similar interview format.
The interview with Trump, which aired on Monday evening, drew substantial attention. Musk highlighted that between 7:47 PM and 10:47 PM ET, Trump’s Space post alone amassed 73 million views. During this time, 4 million posts discussing the interview contributed to a cumulative view count of nearly 1 billion. The conversation covered a range of topics, including immigration, inflation, and the recent assassination attempt against Trump, along with his perspectives on policies and his 2024 campaign.
Trump used the interview to criticize both Vice President Harris and President Biden, accusing them of mishandling the migration crisis and failing to act effectively over the years. Trump argued that Harris and Biden had ample opportunities to address these issues but did not take meaningful action, labeling them as incompetent. He also commented on Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 race, describing it as a “coup” orchestrated by Democrats due to concerns about Biden’s mental fitness and age.
The interview began after 8:30 PM on Monday, following a significant cyberattack on the platform that caused delays. Despite these technical issues, the interview still managed to attract a substantial audience. Trump’s appearance on X was notable as it marked his return to the platform after nearly a year of inactivity. His account had been suspended following the January 6 Capitol breach but was reinstated by Musk in 2022. Since then, Trump had only made a few posts, including his mugshot from August of the previous year.
