Senator Vows To Certify 2024 Election

He wants a fair election.

Senator Tim Scott recently confirmed his intention to certify the 2024 election results, breaking his previous silence on the issue. In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Scott expressed confidence in a fair election and committed to certifying the results, including a potential win for Donald Trump as the 47th president.

Scott, who is a leading candidate to be Trump’s running mate, had been evasive about whether he would accept this year’s election results. In earlier interviews, including on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” he avoided direct answers but maintained that Trump would be the next president.

If chosen as Trump’s vice-presidential nominee, Scott would still hold his Senate seat when Congress meets to certify the election results. This could lead to the unique situation of him certifying his own election win or loss in January.

Scott has acknowledged President Joe Biden’s 2020 victory and voted to certify the results despite Trump’s false claims of election fraud. He justified his vote by stating that no credible evidence was found to overturn the election results in any state.

Throughout his campaign, Scott has rejected the notion that the 2020 election was stolen, though he has criticized changes in voting procedures like the use of mail-in ballots without signature verification. He has consistently emphasized the need for fair and secure elections.
