Biden’s support is waning.
Blackstone CEO and co-founder Stephen Schwarzman announced on Friday his intention to support former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election, marking a shift from his previous stance of distancing himself from Trump during the GOP primary.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Schwarzman expressed concern about the direction of the country’s economic, immigration, and foreign policies, stating, “I share the concern of most Americans.” He emphasized his desire for change and pledged his support for Trump’s presidential bid, as well as for Republican Senate candidates and other GOP contenders.
Schwarzman, who briefly chaired Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum, highlighted the concerning rise of antisemitism as a factor influencing his decision to focus on the upcoming elections with greater urgency. He criticized President Biden, along with other Republicans, for what he perceived as a lack of action against antisemitism, particularly in response to anti-Israel protests on college campuses.
This declaration marks a reversal from Schwarzman’s previous stance in 2022, when he advocated for the Republican Party to embrace new leadership and move away from Trump. At the time, Schwarzman emphasized the importance of leaders rooted in the present and future rather than the past.
While Schwarzman’s endorsement signals growing support for Trump among big-money GOP donors, Biden’s fundraising efforts have faced challenges in recent months. Trump’s successful April fundraising, buoyed by a record-setting event hosted by billionaire investor John Paulson, marked a significant shift in the fundraising landscape, with Trump surpassing Biden in monthly fundraising for the first time this cycle.
