Rights Group Pumps $15 Million Into Swing State For Biden

They are working hard to get Biden re-elected.

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the largest LGBTQ rights organization in the U.S., is launching a $15 million initiative to support President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign against Republican Donald Trump in the 2024 election. This financial commitment will target six critical battleground states—Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada—where the outcome could determine the presidency and control of Congress. The initiative will encompass various strategies such as paid advertisements, staff recruitment, field campaigns, and events to mobilize voters in these key states.

Despite an increase in the number of “equality voters” who prioritize LGBTQ rights in their voting decisions, HRC identifies a significant portion of these voters as potentially undecided or at risk of not voting. The organization believes that engaging and mobilizing these voters could be pivotal in securing Biden’s reelection, particularly in closely contested states like Arizona, where every vote can make a difference.

The upcoming election holds significant implications for LGBTQ rights, with Biden having made strides in advancing equality during his first term, while Trump has actively opposed certain LGBTQ initiatives and encouraged conservative backlash against LGBTQ rights. HRC aims to counter this backlash and ensure that LGBTQ issues remain a priority in the political landscape.

The organization recognizes the importance of young and diverse voters, who make up a substantial portion of “equality voters” and may be pivotal in deciding the election outcome. HRC plans to engage with these demographics and emphasize the importance of supporting Biden over third-party candidates who may not fully align with LGBTQ rights.

Overall, HRC’s initiative seeks to mobilize LGBTQ voters and allies, counter conservative opposition to LGBTQ rights, and ensure that the progress made in advancing equality is protected and expanded in the years to come.
