Trump’s Game-Changing Plan To Turn Blue State Red

He will make history.

It’s been more than thirty years since a Republican candidate secured victory in New Jersey during a presidential election. The last time this happened was in 1988 when then-Vice President George H.W. Bush carried the state en route to winning the presidency. Since then, Democrats have maintained a stronghold, winning New Jersey in the subsequent eight presidential elections.

Despite this historical trend, former President Donald Trump remains optimistic about his chances in the reliably blue state. In a recent interview on New Jersey 105.1 radio, Trump expressed his determination to win over the people of New Jersey, declaring, “We’re going to try and win the state of New Jersey. I want the people to know that I love it.” Trump emphasized his intention not just to come close but to secure a victory, asserting his belief that New Jersey, traditionally seen as a Democratic stronghold, could shift towards the Republican party.

Trump’s confidence comes ahead of his scheduled rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, situated at the southern end of the Jersey Shore in Cape May County, known for its Republican-leaning demographics. Despite holding a rally in the same location in January 2020, Trump suffered a significant defeat in the state, losing to President Biden by 16 points. Even in the 2016 election, he trailed behind Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by 14 points in New Jersey.

While Trump remains engaged in legal proceedings in New York City during weekdays, he continues to focus on political activities, including rallying support in states like New Jersey. However, Democrats, including New Jersey Representative Mikie Sherrill and Biden campaign communications director Michael Tyler, appear unfazed by Trump’s aspirations. Sherrill dismissed the notion of New Jersey welcoming Trump, while Tyler reaffirmed the Biden campaign’s commitment to securing the necessary electoral votes without distractions.
