During a closed-door donor retreat, Donald Trump drew comparisons between President Joe Biden’s administration and the secret police of Nazi Germany. His remarks, delivered as he discussed his legal challenges and criticized prosecutors and recent indictments, highlighted his belief that Biden’s administration operates in a manner akin to the Gestapo.
Despite facing legal troubles, Trump didn’t hold back, labeling Biden as “the worst president in the history of our country” and questioning his competence and integrity. He admitted to being surprised by his indictment but seemed unfazed, suggesting that worrying too much could lead to failure.
In addition to criticizing prosecutors, Trump directed his ire at Jack Smith, the special counsel handling cases against him, describing him as an “evil thug” and “deranged.” Biden’s campaign spokesperson condemned Trump’s remarks as divisive and indicative of his self-serving agenda.
Trump made these comments at Mar-a-Lago Club during the Republican National Committee’s spring retreat, where potential vice presidential candidates were in attendance, including notable figures like Sen. Tim Scott and Rep. Elise Stefanik.
Stefanik received praise from Trump for her role in challenging former Harvard University President Claudine Gay. He also commended other potential candidates like Sen. JD Vance, Sen. Marco Rubio, and Gov. Kristi Noem. Despite potential complications due to both residing in Florida, Trump hinted at considering Rubio for the VP role.
Acknowledging the wealth of Gov. Doug Burgum and expressing fondness for Gov. Noem, Trump highlighted the camaraderie among the potential candidates. Additionally, he spontaneously offered donors who contributed $1 million on the spot the chance to join him onstage, attracting two participants with one declaring Trump as the chosen figure of God.
