Donald Trump Jr. Sets Strict Criteria For Trump VP

He wants someone who can stand with Trump.

Donald Trump Jr. is actively seeking a strong contender to join his father, former President Donald Trump, in the 2024 White House race.

Underlining the pivotal role of the vice presidency, Trump Jr., advocating for a running mate who can handle unique challenges, emphasized to the New York Post the necessity for someone resilient enough to weather political attacks and respond effectively.

“I want someone who will fight in that position,” remarked Trump Jr., aged 46. “I understand the challenges that lie ahead.”

“In 2016, there was a need for balance on the ticket — that’s where Mike Pence came in, providing a complementary dynamic. However, given the aggressive political climate and ongoing turbulence, we require someone capable of standing firm against these assaults,” noted Trump Jr., the eldest child of the former president.

Trump Jr. listed individuals such as Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and former Fox News host and conservative commentator Tucker Carlson as potential candidates.

While Trump Jr. indicated he would “never say never,” he conveyed to the Post that he has no aspirations to serve in his father’s administration if re-elected this November, diverging from his sister Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, both of whom held significant White House roles during Trump’s first term. Instead, should his father secure re-election, Trump Jr. plans to actively participate in the 2024 presidential transition team. His girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, would continue her fundraising efforts.

“My primary goal is to prevent the infiltration of swamp figures from D.C. and to safeguard against their influence,” he affirmed.

Regarding other potential running mates, Trump Jr. mentioned John Ratcliffe, former director of national intelligence, and Cliff Sims, a former special assistant to Trump known for his 2019 memoir detailing his White House experiences.

Trump Jr. prioritizes loyalty and a dedication to the “America First” agenda championed by his father over the past decade. “We have a strong pool of candidates now after the first four years of the administration. We know who would be great, loyal, and dedicated to implementing America First policies,” he asserted.

Despite his father’s previous remarks regarding political retribution, Trump Jr. reassured the outlet that his father would lead the country according to its principles, with his only “retribution” being the success of the nation.

Earlier this year, Trump hinted at already having selected his running mate but refrained from disclosing the name. Reports have indicated that Vivek Ramaswamy might not be chosen as the running mate but could potentially serve in a cabinet role instead.

Various other prominent Republicans, including Gov. Kristi Noem of South Dakota, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, Rep. Byron Donalds of Florida, and former HUD Secretary Ben Carson, have been rumored as potential running mates for the former president.
