Trump Shocks Critics With Landslide Win

There’s nothing holding him back.

Former President Donald Trump has emerged victorious in the Republican caucuses held in the U.S. Virgin Islands, as projected by NBC News. This win marks his third consecutive triumph in the race for the GOP presidential nomination, following previous victories in the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary. With this latest win, Trump further solidifies his position as the leading contender within the Republican Party.

According to NBC News projections, Trump is expected to secure all four delegates allocated by the Republican National Committee from the U.S. Virgin Islands at the upcoming convention in Milwaukee. Trump took to his Truth Social media platform to share his excitement about the victory, expressing gratitude to those involved in his successful campaign and emphasizing the significance of the win for himself, the Republican Party, and democracy.

However, despite Trump’s win, there have been claims from U.S. Virgin Islands GOP officials regarding the allocation of delegates. They argue that the territory was unfairly docked five delegates due to the timing of their ranked-choice, winner-take-all contest. Unless changes are made at the convention, the party will only recognize four delegates from the islands.

The decision to hold the caucuses early was driven by a desire to gain attention and assert the territory’s influence in the nominating process. U.S. Virgin Islands GOP Chairman Gordon Ackley highlighted the importance of the territory’s role in shaping the trajectory of the Republican nomination.

In contrast to previous contests, the outcome of the Virgin Islands caucuses was less predictable, with neither Trump nor his main challenger, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, actively campaigning in the region. However, both candidates made virtual appearances, and Trump enlisted the support of Republican surrogates to bolster his campaign in the territory.

Overall, Trump’s victory in the U.S. Virgin Islands underscores his continued dominance in the race for the Republican presidential nomination and adds momentum to his campaign as he seeks to secure the party’s endorsement for a potential bid for the presidency.
