Biden’s Nomination Garners Limited Excitement Among Democrats

It’s time for him to retire.

In the recent Michigan poll, President Biden faces a decline in support from Democratic voters, with only 27% expressing enthusiasm for his candidacy as the Democratic nominee, according to the Washington Post-Monmouth poll. About 51% of Democratic voters in the state would be “satisfied” with Biden as their nominee, while 19% express “dissatisfaction” or being “upset.” This stands in contrast to Michigan Republicans, where around 45% show enthusiasm for former President Trump as their potential nominee, with approximately 31% indicating satisfaction for the 2024 presidential race. The polls also highlight a growing sense of dissatisfaction among Americans concerning the possibility of a Biden-Trump rematch in 2024.

Additionally, the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey indicates that roughly 56% of U.S. adults express dissatisfaction with Biden as the Democratic nominee, while about 58% report feeling dissatisfied with Trump representing the GOP. Regarding favorability, 42% of respondents view Biden favorably, compared to 36% for Trump. These findings underscore the nuanced political sentiment in Michigan and the broader United States, showcasing varying levels of enthusiasm, satisfaction, and dissatisfaction among voters regarding potential nominees from both major parties.

Conducted between late November and mid-December, these polls offer valuable insights into the evolving dynamics of political support and reveal nuanced perspectives among Democrats and Republicans in Michigan. As the 2024 presidential race looms, these sentiments may play a pivotal role in shaping the political landscape and influencing candidate strategies in the years ahead.
