Democrats Unleash Bold Strategy

They will continue to label Trump.

After former President Trump survived a second alleged assassination attempt, Democrats continue to label him as a “threat to democracy” without any intention of softening their rhetoric. On Capitol Hill, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) stated, “The fact of the matter is that he is a threat to democracy.” Similarly, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wa.) affirmed the need for clarity on Trump’s perceived threat, while Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) declared, “He is a threat. Period.”

Republicans criticized these statements. Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) expressed his frustration on “Fox & Friends,” arguing that such claims are absurd. He asserted that American democracy has proven resilient over the past 248 years and will endure regardless of the election outcome. Lawler also pointed to what he sees as hypocrisy in the Democrats’ narrative, suggesting that they undermine public trust while questioning President Biden’s cognitive abilities.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) echoed this sentiment, saying on “Fox & Friends First” that the left fails to recognize the impact of their inflammatory comments. Mace expressed concern for the safety of the Trump family, emphasizing that no one should face threats for their patriotism.

Earlier this year, President Biden privately remarked on the media’s responsibility to scrutinize Trump, suggesting it was time to target him politically. Following Trump’s first assassination attempt, Biden acknowledged that his previous rhetoric might have been a mistake. Both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have repeatedly called Trump a “threat to democracy.”

Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman previously described Trump as “dangerous” and indicated that he needed to be removed from political life. After the first assassination attempt, Goldman condemned political violence, but following the second, he expressed his outrage. Long criticized for her statements, Rep. Maxine Waters has encouraged more confrontational behavior among Democrats, including urging them to confront Trump officials in public.
